Mapping Fields

This section of the Mapping Details form is used to map data fields i.e. identify which input fields are applied to which MYOB fields.

The panel on the left shows a list of fields in the selected sample input file.

If the file does not have column headings the fields will be named Field001, Field002 and so on.

The first line of data in the sample file is also displayed. When there are no column headings this can provide some clue as to which column is which.

The right hand panel lists the fields applicable to the data type you have selected.

Most of the fields correspond to the fields on the corresponding input form in MYOB.

  • For each field in the imput file that is to be entered into MYOB, click on the Input Field on the left hand panel then click on the desired fields Input Field column on the right hand panel. The name of the Input field will appear. For example if you have a field called CustName on the left that you want to copy to the CoLastName field in MYOB you should first click on CustName then click into the Input Field cell to the right of CoLastName in the right hand panel.

  • To remove a mapping, select it the Input Field column in the right hand panel and click delete or just double-click it.
  • To set a default, type the default value in the default column. For example: Set the Default for Inclusive to X if your sales are inclusive, then you do not need a column for that in your data
  • Click the Save Settings button to save your mapping. It is saved permanently unless you explicitly delete it with the Delete Mapping button on the Mappings tab.
There are a few fields which tell TransPost what to do. For example most import types have an Action field which if set to D will cause the record identified by the data to be deleted.

Fields which are rarely used are hidden unless you select the Show: All fields option.

Go to TransPost Transaction Types to link to specific details about the fields for specific transactions.

Click the Save Settings button to save your mapping. It is saved permanently unless you explicitly delete it with the Delete Mapping button.

Once you have defined your mapping you can use it to import data into MYOB but before you do we strongly recommend that the first few times you use any mapping you try it out on a small file with only one or two items or you back up your MYOB database first and then check that records have been processed correctly.
